Joseph Vincent Redmond, age 89, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019, surrounded by his loving
family. Mr. Redmond was born on January 29, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to Edward Francis Redmond and Francis G. Boyne. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war as a Private and received the Korean
Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star. He is predeceased by his two daughters Lori Susan Redmond, and Karen Lee Redmond, and grandson Matthew; he is survived by his son Joseph and wife Anne Marie; his son Chris and wife Cindy; eight grandchildren Kristi, Joseph, Brian, Catherine, Christopher, Candice, Michael and Cassandra; and sixteen great-grandchildren. As the patriarch of the family, Joe exhibited the value of hard work, honor, patience, extreme ingenuity, dignity, and a stellar quick wit that spread laughter like a wildfire. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a quiet passion and an unwavering dedication. His love for his family was “like a circle … it has no end.” His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family for generations. Of the many things he will be remembered for, it will be his love of animals. His compassion and dedication to the many dogs and cats he cared for over the years is a true testament to the kind and caring spirit that he embodied. Family and friends may pay their respects at the McLaughlin & Sons Funeral Home, 9620 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY, on Sunday, December 8th, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Anselm Roman Catholic Church, 356 82 St, Brooklyn, NY, on Monday, December 9th at 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Long Island National Cemetery (Pine Lawn), 2040 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY.
