Widad A.K. Restom, born April 16, 1927 (92 years young), a Syrian American, a Christian, a daughter, a mother, a wife, a sister, a grandmother and great grandmother. She raised 3 children, never took any of these roles lightly, and she always gave us her best.
In her late years, she went thru hard times and difficult circumstances, from open heart surgery, to a stroke and a fall, but she handled it all with strength and fortitude over the years.
Also in her later years she had to leave her home in Syria to live here in the US where she put her trust in her sons, to care for her, with love and devotion. She is a remarkable lady who always held her head up high, taught us to respect ourselves and the people around us.
Her children, grandchildren, the great grandchildren and her entire family, will miss her so much, and they all wish for her, their mom, and their teta (grandmother), to now rest, free of pain, in heaven with her mother (Mariam, Um Restom), husband (Alexander Zamaria), father (Abu Restom), and her older siblings beside her.

Anthony Khoury, on behalf of the Khoury Brothers (Anthony, Philip, Patrick)

My brothers and I will never forget our memorable childhood visits to Syria and the times spent at Tante Widad’s home in Aleppo. She took the utmost care of us, loved us, and taught us good values. It is also my understanding that it was Tante Widad who encouraged my Father that marrying my Mother would be the best thing that ever happened to him—and for that we are incredibly thankful
We are also very grateful for the opportunities to see Tante Widad in the last few years during her time in America and we greatly admire her for making the effort to see us in New Jersey despite the struggles that she faced
Rest in peace Tante Widad, thank you for the impact that you made on our family
Anthony, Philip and Patrick

We will always remember Tante Widad's warmth, kindness & hospitality. Always thinking about how she can take care of us...
She was always saying she wants to celebrate our wedding by throwing us a party one day in Aleppo (Halab). We will always remember Tante Widad as an amazingly resilient woman, her strength especially in the last few years is truly an inspiration.

My mom always told me about the time she lived with Tante Widad & how much she felt at home and well taken care of throughout those years. She would tell me about how Tante Widad personally took care of her and her room and clothes, even though she had help in the house. I think she wanted my mom to receive the best care possible that only she could provide.
May she rest in peace and comfort, for it is well deserved for all the care she has given to everyone throughout her life.

We love you so much,
Grace & Steve Varga
