Margaret Cerciello (Castaldo) went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 after spending a day surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Margaret spent many years working as a bank teller at the Manufacturers Hanover Bank on 4th Avenue. She loved crossword puzzles, reading, playing (and organizing) Bingo, and creating hand made items of all kinds - it is no surprise that even at 92 years of age, she retained all of her wit and her distinctive sense of humor. But more than anything, her joy in the most recent years came from being a great grandmother.
Known to some as Margaret, others Margie, Meg, Grandma and GG, she lived a life full of love for her children (George, Joseph and Brenda), grandchildren and her 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Elizabeth Castaldo, siblings Nancy Brenner, Louise Kirschner, Anthony Castaldo, Rosalie Longobardi, Dorothy Martin, Marilyn Quirk and Robert Castaldo and by her son, George Cerciello. She is survived by children Joseph Cerciello (Denise) and Brenda DeSantis (Rocco), grandchildren Marc DeSantis (Esther), Cara Volpe (George), Joseph Cerciello (Alyssa), Michele Evans (Dave), David DeSantis and Matthew Cerciello, and great grandchildren Lucas, Gianna, Eliana, Daniella, Darla, Matthew, Lulu, Evangeline and Emma. She is missed and will forever be in our hearts.
Visitation Tuesday September 25th, 2-5pm & 7-9pm at McLaughlin & Sons Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Wednesday September 26th at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 245 Prospect Park West. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TreeHouse of Greater St Louis, where her great grandchild Lucas receives therapy, www.thstl.org
