Life Story for Claire Gabriel (Boutross)
Claire Gabriel was born Claire Boutross on March 30, 1922 on 5th Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY in the brownstone where she grew up.
She had seven siblings: Marie, Ann, Jeanne, Georgette, George, Elaine, and Albert. She is survived by Elaine and Albert.
Claire studied and loved music and was an avid piano player. She went to finishing school and secretarial school, and very much enjoyed being a career woman for many years. She worked in her father’s office as well as other companies in Manhattan and spent her lunch hours skipping lunch to shop on Fifth Avenue.
After 13 years of proposals, she married Nathan Gabriel in 1958, after knowing him from a young age. (Nathan‘s father, Joseph had helped Claire’s father, George start his NY business.) Nathan and Claire had three children— Marilyn, Annie (husband John Pier), and Joseph (wife Patricia nee Saady).
She had five grandchildren: Natalie Anne, Jon Alexander, Cecilia Rose, Joella Claire, and Sabrina Grace.
She is greatly loved and dearly missed.
